Physical Property Measurement System_2B

Physical Property Measurement System (PPMS) equipped with an Evercool option is a tool to study the AC/DC electrical resistivity, conductivity, Hall effect, magneto-resistance, Specific heat capacity, Thermal conductivity, Thermoelectric and Magnetic characterization like (VSM, ACMS) of various types of materials as a function of two main variables (i) Magnetic field, +/-9Tesla and (ii) Temperature (2K -400 K). Angle dependent electrical resistivity with respect to magnetic field is possible using a rotator set-up. AC susceptibility in the frequency range of 10 Hz to 10 kHz and from 2K - 350K.
Sample - Resistivity sample should fit in the sample holder of size, 10 mm x 12 mm. Please contact lab staff on sample preparation for other type of experiments.

Stylus Surface Profilometer

The DektakXT stylus surface profiler is an advanced thin and thick film step height measurement tool. It could enable critical nanometer level surface measurements for the microelectronics, semiconductor, solar, LED, medical, and materials science industries. The measurement is performed electromechanically by moving a diamond-tipped stylus over the sample surface according to a user-defined scan length, speed, and stylus force. The stylus is linked to a Linear Variable Differential Transformer (LDVT), which produces and processes electrical signals that correspond to surface variations of the sample.

Wafer - Silicon and glass wafer up to 6 inch. Small sample needs to be attached on full size dummy wafer. Sample heights must NOT exceed 50 mm. The surface should be free of contamination. No Hg or Ga/In contaminated samples allowed!

You can download and use the Living Image SW for a 30 day trial period. For a permanent installation, you will need to have or purchase a 20 digit SW license to activate this SW. To download the SW, use the link below. The installer must be logged into the local computer as the administrator with full permissions to install and use this SW. Make sure to choose the appropriate download file that matches the Windows OS you are targeting the installation for. Once the file is downloaded onto the desktop, Right mouse click on the file and select “Run as administrator” During the installation, do not click on any options to install as these options require additional licensing to activate. If you do not activate the SW, it will install as a 30 Day demo and will expire soon thereafter.

Simultaneous Thermal Analysis generally refers to the simultaneous application of Thermogravimetry (TGA) and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) to one and the same sample in one instrument. The test conditions are perfectly identical for the TGA and DSC signals (same atmosphere, gas flow rate, vapor pressure on the sample, heating rate, thermal contact to the sample crucible and sensor, radiation effect, etc.). Furthermore, it improves sample throughput as more information is gathered from each test run. It also has a QMS Mass spectrometer for further identification of evolved gases.
